STRONG COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS

The Near Eastside Innovation School Corp. is proud to be a part of the Near Eastside of Indianapolis. We take immense pride in being an integral part of the Near Eastside community. Our unwavering commitment at both Thomas Gregg and Washington Irving is to offer children and families a genuine community school experience, ensuring that every young individual and their families are well-prepared for lifelong success right within their neighborhood.

What sets us apart is our distinctive approach, which focuses on the holistic development of both the child and the family, fostering not just academic excellence but also nurturing social-emotional well-being and a strong sense of community engagement.

NEISC AND THE JOHN BONER CENTERS

NEISC shares a strong partnership with our sister agency, the John Boner Neighborhood Centers (JBNC). JBNC has been a pinnacle on the Near Eastside since 1971 believing that neighborhood-driven efforts are essential in developing a healthy, thriving and vibrant community. NEISC schools benefit from the expertise of JBNC staff to support two-generational needs of our students and their families.

JBNC provides full-time staff to NEISC schools in the form of a Community School Coordinator – responsible for developing and maintaining strong community partnerships and family engagement programming to support student achievement and family stability and a Family Navigator – responsible responsible for working directly with familiesat the school to build one-on-one relationships, link them to resources & networks of support, and coordinate the enrollment and referral of families and children to services at JBNC and other organizations.

JBNC also operates the EDGE After School program onsite at TGNS & WINS which offers students a safe and engagement environment for enrichment, social-emotional development, and positive peer and adult relationships.

Finally, the JBNC House Stability for School Success program is an affordable housing program for families with children attending Thomas Gregg or Washington Irving. Families in the HSSS program work with JBNC case managers to achieve their goals through wrap-around services in the areas of family engagement, financial management, academic success, and career advancement. Through the HSSS program, children and families can secure stable and affordable housing in the neighborhood while attending high-quality neighborhood schools.

COMMUNITY COUNCIL

At NEISC schools, our dedication extends to fostering collaborative relationships with fellow neighborhood organizations to create a positive influence within our school communities, amplifying our collective impact. Our network includes a robust and committed group of community partners who offer multifaceted support to our schools. The heart of our collaborative efforts lies within the Community Council, where our partners and school staff converge.

These Community Councils convene quarterly to stay updated on the latest developments within our schools, pinpoint opportunities for partnership and cooperation, and establish a strong support network that benefits the students and families residing in the Near Eastside community.
